Bone Densitometry
A bone density test is an X-Ray test that is used to determine whether or not a person has osteoporosis. The bone densitometry study is a quick non-invasive X-ray study that can accurately measure bone density. It can detect a decrease in bone density as little as 1%. The study is done at the Main Clinic and takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Osteoporosis is a thinning of the bones that leads to increased bone fractures. Therapy of osteoporosis has been shown to decrease the rate of these fractures in post-menopausal women, who have the highest risk. Medical treatment is now available for patients needing help with this condition. By strengthening bone, painful fractures are less common and the quality of life is enhanced.
Please see OUR PHYSICIANS to schedule an appointment with a Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician regarding your need for Bone Densitometry testing.
